13 Dec Royal Borough Big Society Strive Further
Budding entrepeneurs from the Royal Borough are well on the way to starting their own businesses after graduating from the Strive start your own business programme.
The participants of the scheme had to pitch their businesses to a ‘Dragon’s Den-style’ panel at the Macdonald Windsor Hotel, who sponsored the event, before being presented with their graduation certificates by the Mayor Cllr Andrew Jenner.
Among the successful businesses were a puppy creche, a hair accessories business and a driving school.
The programme was funded by the Royal Borough’s Big Society initiative in partnership with Grow our Own, Housing Solutions and Radian. It was delivered by the Enterprise Cube.
Prior to the graduation, the residents spent one day a week for 14 weeks learning the foundations of starting a business – everything from making a business plan to sourcing funding and marketing.
